Gonna be doing some freezing . . . err . . . fishing in early January and
I'll need some gloves. Any recommendations?

These look good (and cheap): http://tinyurl.com/3yqljn (link to Sierra

I have a pair of wool gloves that have just half fingers. I really like
them except for the very coldest times. They keep my hands warm even
when wet.

They look just like these:

I like wool gloves with cut-out fingers, too. I don't think they're as
practical or effective as neoprene gloves, but they feel better,
especially when they're dry.

On my first Alaska float trip we had cold, driving rain nearly every
day. My wool gloves were adequate, but they never dried out and were
miserable to wear.

I have both wool fingerless mitts and neoprene fingerless mitts

I like the wool better ... as rw says "feels better"

but they are a bitch to dry out

.... although tossing them up where the hot air to defrost the windshield is
supposed to come from ( if it's not blocked by wet wool glovelets ) and
kinda guessing where the road goes ( cause the windshield won't defrost )
works ok if you have enough time between uses

I have a pair of those. They are warm, but they limited my hand/finger
movement enough, that I don't use them anymore. I have a few pairs of
fleece gloves, that I like better. They still keep your hands relatively
warm when wet, dry quickly(you can wring most of the water out), and are
very comfortable to wear. I use the 1/2 finger models, so I can tie
flies on without taking the gloves off. This pair I bought on closeout
somewhere...

They seem to be warmer than some cheaper Polartec models I have.

The ones I have that I called "neoprene" are like those, really only
neoprene on the palm side, fleece otherwise ... warm, easy to dry

I like to layer gloves just like clothes. I generally wear a
lightweight pair first and then layer with heavier gloves, fliptop
mittens, or just fingerless outer gloves, as conditions warrant. I
particularly like receiver/running back style gloves as "under gloves"
if appropriate for conditions - they're fairly warm and dry, allow
finger usage and good grip, etc.

I have a pair of the Glacier Gloves. I use them in pretty freezing
conditions. They are okay, but still kind of annoying.

I work outside and also do some winter fishing..Neoprene is definetley the
answer espciallt when it come to wid or breezy conditions. You might want
to put a pair of liners with the fingers cut off in them, that way if your
fingertips get cold you can draw them up into your palms to get them wqrm
again. The Neoprene will keep them dry........
