Fishing Areas CLOSED

It keeps popping up in another forum I read. All legal road or offroad
vehicle access has been closed to the Agua Fria arm of Lake Pleassant. Its
because of offroad users tearing the place up and people leaving trash
everywhere. Plain and simple. This is what I have to say on that subject.

Other areas have been closed over the years due to discourteous and lazy
freaks. Not all of which are meth heads and illegals.

(P.S. When I say freak I do not mean somebody who by birth or accident has
the misfortune of dealing on a daily basis with a true handicap, but rather
those who choose to be freaks by destroying those things around themselves
that are good.)

Road access is closed to one of my favorite bank side fishing holes
primarily due to drinkers and fishermen. Not much is more nasty than to
start to climb down a rocky bank to your favorite fishing hole to find left
over liver all over the rocks inter mixed with worm cartons, and cartons of
empty beer bottles wedge between the rocks.

Over the years I always taken out more trash than I took in to anyplace I
fished, hunted or camped. I was taught as a boy first and foremost it was
the right thing to do, but also even though we didn't leave that trash we
would be punished equally with those who did when whole areas were closed to
access because rangers and managers just decided it was more trouble than it
was worth to keep cleaning it up.

Unless you want to see other areas closed clean up the places you love. Even
if you only pick up one piece of trash more than you brought with you, it
may be one more minute before the resource managers meet up with the last
piece that breaks their back.

==========

Unfortunately, there will always be those individuals that only think
about themselves...someone else will always clean up after them. They
throw their trash out the window, on the ground, and in the water for
others to clean up.....it will never change! Fines don't work, closing
areas don't work (they just go some place else).

All the rest of us can do, is what you do, help clean up their mess. I
bank fish a lot, and like you, I carry a trash bag and take out what I
can. It doesn't really bother me any more, I realize that is just the
way it is, and I do the clean up gladly, and it's not that much effort
for me.

I do understand you kinda "venting" on the subject though, I use to be
more than vocal about the whole thing! :)

I don't know about "freaks".....I like to call them "Ignorant, socially
challenged misfits". :)
