Madison
The Madison that attracts most anglers, the section from Hebgen down, isn't
a favorite of mine. This is mainly a product of arthritis, not fishing. The Madison I love runs from the confluence of the Firehole and the Gibbon to Hebgen. It contains every type of water, sections where you can cast from the road and sections that require real energy ( and bear spray ) to visit. Like it's main water source, the Firehole, it tends to run too hot in mid-summer and has two distinct seasons, 'till mid-July and after mid-Sept, on average. In this collection of photos, taken as simple reminders of angling days for my own pleasure, is one shot of an angler sitting and waiting for the hatch. That is Wally owner of the historic Eagle store on the main corner in West Yellowstone. Wally is well into his 80s and still fishes and skis ... hope for those of us too old for yet another mid-life crisis, but still hankerin' to simply get away http://www.kimshew.com/visuals/Madison/ |

That takes me back about 25 yrs to the fun I had on the Madison with some of my fishing buddies. I haven't been there in years, but this old fart remembers great times on this river. I also enjoyed the pics of Henry's Fork recently. sniffle. I guess that's why I have been lurking here all these years. |
