Fishing in Cancun? - OT

Last week, my wife qualified for some local radio contest with the final
drawing for the grand prize held at a nearby casino. Long story short, she
won the grand prize, a four night/five day trip for two to Cancun at some
fancy all-inclusive resort! The prize also includes round trip airfare for
two and no, we don't have to listen to some time-share sales pitch!

Now Janet might be into lying on the beach and sipping umbrella drinks, but
I don't think I'll last five days being near that much water without doing
some fishing.

Has anyone here ever been to Cancun and done some fishing? It seems like
most of the stuff I find is deep sea trolling, and I'd rather do something
that's a little more inshore, involving casting...

Oh yeah, we're leaving around the middle of next month.

You lucky dog!
There has to be some type of fishing close to shore. Try calling or
emailing the resort, they should know.

Back to sorting, packing and freezing my ass off!

Flats fishing is available. Been a few years since I was there, and did not
fish. But there was an advert sign for a flats guide as you came into older
part of Cancun on the right side of the road.

Yeah I have been there and have done alot of fishing homework for
cancun. If your fishing from shore best thing to use is small crabs or
pluggs. I didn't do any deepsea fishing just because i like the shore.
Whats realy fun is fly fishing, but it would take some practice befor
you head out. Have fun down there.
