Pollock Pines California
Hi,
Any help with the following would be appreciated ... I have unexpectedly found myself with a free day to fish tomorrow. I'm staying in Pollock Pines. I have my gear with me, but I don't know the area. I'm a stream/wade fisherman. Any ideas for a place to wade in and maybe catch a few trout would be welcome. I see a fork of the American River by the road. Worth fishing? Also, I have to be up Ice House Lake road at some point ... any streams worth checking out up there? Thanks in advance, Rick |

The North fork of the York, and toward Napa, Puta Creek have some excellent
spots easily reached by car and on foot. Have not fished the York's S. fork, but would expect it to be the same. The York is usually wide and fast this time of year, but well worth the drive. Strong cutthroat that average 16-18". There are sand bars that offer great positioning out in the river, but beware the speed of the water. There are large rocks in places, and these can be fun or tiring, depending on your sense of adventure. Most of the fly shops are well stocked with the best flies. Have had success with dark stone flies and cadis on the same day. Tight lines, and enjoy, Vic wrote in message ... Hi, Any help with the following would be appreciated ... Sly Park Reservoir has trout, bass and Mackinaw trout. You can fish from the shore. Check out www.anglernet.net/forums for some of the area. My buddy in Placerville, loves Icehouse, and probably good fishing below the dam. |
