Anyone done the Black River. What's the best time of the year? Flies?
And best to start east fork or west fork. Any info would be
appreciated, thanks

The west fork has the Browns (near the headwater). The east branch has
stockies, and the lower stretches of both have sharp-tooth fish
(panfish, smallmouth, bucketmouth..). Depending on what you want to
catch, choose your section. Since the headwaters are almost a mile
high, fishing is good as soon as the roads are open...personally I'd
go to the west fork, near Wildcat Point. Best time of year is whenever
you are there...fish the shadows and overhang if its later in the
season and the water is warming.

And post a TR!
