Um...Obama couldn't have possibly...she must be mistaken...
It appears Michelle Obama made several mistakes in her speech. She
claimed...well, let's let her tell it: "Instead of heading to Wall Street, Barack had gone to work in neighborhoods devastated when steel plants shut down and jobs dried up. And he'd been invited back to speak to people from those neighborhoods about how to rebuild their community. The people gathered together that day were ordinary folks doing the best they could to build a good life. They were parents living paycheck to paycheck, grandparents trying to get by on a fixed income, men frustrated that they couldn't support their families after their jobs disappeared. Those folks weren't asking for a handout or a shortcut. They were ready to work. They wanted to contribute. They believed like you and I believe that America should be a place where you can make it if you try." OK, this would have been approximately from 1993 until 1997, when he quit working in neighborhoods and decided to, um, help Alice Palmer retire, back when St. Bill was president and everything was perfect and rosy and wonderful for everyone. So, anyhoo...just who were these supposed folks living paycheck to paycheck, catfood-eating grandparents, and dads with disappearing jobs...? And what does she think makes the man is so special - what's at his real core? He's handsome...and he bought her ice cream...OK, great, that's a real cute story...if they met when they were 10. As folks who met as Harvard-graduated JDs and one of whom wants to be the Prez on a resume that consists of a speech, a slew of "presents," and only getting his ass handed to him in one of the two US Congressional elections he's been in, well, not so much. But he's gonna fix everything for everybody THIS time... Sheesh, R ....and I can hardly wait to hear Cindy's lament about John's recent brush with mere Weejuns... |
