The kid just missed it!
 

After being in second on day one, and day two, John finished third in
the U.S. Open on the final day....just 2l lbs. from winning a $150,000!

But I am still a very proud Dad! Lake Mead is a tough lake to fish,
especially with tenps in the 100 + degrees!

I know he really was disappointed to not join the elite group that have
won the Open two times....but there is always next year! :)

I am just happy to fish my little lake here....wish I could have
"loaned" John the 4 lber I caught today :).

I hope everyone has a great time at Rienlander...wish I could have made
it this year!

That was supposed to be "just 2 lbs" out of first. Actually it was less
than 2 lbs.

I think what was interestinhg, was that the top four on day one, were
the same top four on day two, and the same top four on the final
day....just not in the same order! :)

Yeah... I was gonna say that I've seen tournaments won with a lot less than
21 lbs... and most close to 4.

That's the breaks though. I remember Randy and I coming within .02 to win a
tie for first with Sean and Drew on Center Hill Lake one time. That was a
close one!!!

Memo: Next time anyone fishes with either Jerry Barton or Randy Lisk... wear
earplugs. I laughed so hard every time I did that I couldn't concentrate on
fishing! I still would highly recommend fishing with either... earplugs or
not. lol

He muast be one of the greats - you have a lot to be proud of!

My one claim to fame - I missed going to the Bassmasters Classaic by
two pounds - back in 1983. Thats it - my one shot.
