B&S motor opinions

My "trusty" 9.9 Evinrude is history so I am shopping for a replacement.
Since I only need a motor to push my 14' shallow hull Crestliner around a
400 acre inland lake where my cottage is, I am considering the Briggs &
Stratton 5HP 4-stroke outboard. Anyone know of its reputation so far? Is
this too small even for leisurely use on a small lake? At about $700 it is
very tempting vs. $1200 or so for other brands - closer to $2000 for 9.9HP
4-strokes.
Any help is MOST appreciated.

don't do it ! your resale will nill.. What is you boat rated for? Some day
you may want to go to a different lake or up grade you boat.. Then what you
think about your lawn mower boat motor....
