A pretty good representation of the current situation...

Politico.com had a humor blurb about a car with "GO GOP" plates being parked in
front of the Democratic Club in DC, and noted that a Dem made the observation
that the plates (with "Apr" and "09") had expired, "just like the Republican
party." (it's hard to tell from the blurb whether it was snapped and the
comment made together or not, but the picture was taken and comment made before
this morning). What no one thought of, however, was until this morning, the
plate date was actually not expired. OTOH, if it was after-hours, unless the
owner already had the renewal stickers and placed them on before midnight, there
was no way to be legal.

The unintended upshot of the blurb -

That many "Democrats" are so clueless they don't even know what day it is and
are so blindly partisan they are perfectly prepared to ignore absolute proof of
innocence in order to accuse Republicans of crimes not even committed, and many
"Republicans" are so bombastic that they think the normal rules don't really
apply to THEM. Get rid of both factions in both parties, and the US will be a
lot better off...

Heh, that's rich. The most outspoken and blindly partisan apologist
for the GOP on roff complaining about blindly partisan Dems.

The comedian P.J. O'Rourke is a stalwart GOP partisan, but at least
he's not blind. You should peruse this comic gem written right after
the election.
