OT More Football, Help Patriots
What seems like yesterday, but was actually 20+ years ago, I was a big fan
of the Baltimore Colts, the Team of Johnny Unitas, Bert Jones, Lydell Mitchell, and briefly Joe Washington. Then Irsay made out like a bandit and crept out in the middle of the night for the then new dome in Indianapolis taking a historic franchise with him. Fast forward to now, I move to Indy, the colts are threatening again to move, the team points to early home games where the local blackout was instituted because they could not sell out as proof Indianapolis could or would no longer support a football team. This time it was old man Irsay's son crying. Lo and behold the Colts win some games and find themselves in the AFC championship game this weekend. This whole town is now Colts crazy when three short months ago, no one really gave a crap. Please New England wipe that silly smirk off of Manning's face and kick some ass this weekend. |

I knew when the Ravens won the Super Bowl that any hope of Baltimore reclaiming (or wishing to reclaim) the "Colts" name was gone forever. Until then, I had hope. I wouldn't root *for* the Colts because I wanted Irsay to burn in Hell, including financially in this world if possible. OTOH, I couldn't root *against* them, because they were still, after all, the Colts, my team. Back here in Charm City, however, it is, undeniably, the Ravens now. The Colts and their legacy are ancient history. Whoever that team playing in Indiana might be, it ain't the Colts; not *my* Colts anyway. So f*ck 'em. Go Pats. Joe F. |
