The article and the accompanying pic are about far northern Iowa
but it could just as well be southwestern Wisconsin or southeastern
Minnesota.

Minnesota winter trout season opens in a month on New Years Day,
time to tie up some Griffith's Gnats.

Iowa doesn't have a closed season. I might be heading that way in a
few weeks to pick up my christmas present to myself if my wife would
quit being concerned about a third dog, do a little pheasant hunting
and hitting a driftless stream or two.

I used to use NW Iowa for my winter trout fix when I lived in the
Chicago area, haven't been back there in a decade but it is pretty
nice at times.
