ALBACORE TUNA

Wolfie started this. And although albacore are hook and line caught, most
are NOT caught with a fly rod g.

Albacore Oatmeal Cookies

Mix until creamy
1 cup softened margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 6 oz. Albacore tuna in water well drained and separated

Add:
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups flour
3 cups oatmeal
1 cup chopped nuts - peanuts, walnuts or pecans

Place 1 inch balls of cookie dough on cookie sheet that has been lightly
sprayed with PAM. Place the dough about 3 inches apart. Flatten with a
teaspoon. When cooked drizzle with lemon icing.

Icing:
In a small sauce pan melt 2 tablespoons of margarine. Add 2 tablespoons of
concentrated lemon juice. Mix in 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar until all
ingredients are well blended. Spread the icing on each cookie and watch
them disappear.

Your friends will not believe you, if and when, you tell them what's in the
cookies. They're good and the albacore is hard for some people to
recognize. Caution - refrigerate uneaten cookies!
Good luck!
John

ALBACORE TUNA

Since you can't taste the tuna why not substitute carp? You can catch
the carp, pressure cook them and flake them into the cookies.
They probably sell tuna cookies in the Uwajimaya store in Beaverton.
It's an interesting place, live fish, sushi, parts of fish and animals
you don't see other places. I'm sure they have some kind of fish
cookies, hard to read the labels.

When the general public eat them and were asked, "How did they taste? Did
you taste anything different?"
Some say they did not taste anything and some immediately identify the
albacore taste. But most said, "There's something different, what is it?"

When told what's in the cookies, you can imagine what most people say g.
"Get otta here!" "Yes!" and "Yuck" seem to be the most frequent but most
people have another cookie and then say, "Yes now I taste the tuna."

Try them, you may like them.

Good luck.

Given the hearsay testimony, the key word is "may" ;-)

In either case I feel compelled to ask:
Why (in Gods name) are we mixing fish into the cookies?!?

(I probably wouldn't like chocolate chips in my tuna sandwich, either...)
