Almost all. Theres a short stretch owned by Penn State, known as
the George Harvey section, that's open to the public, C&R. It's
identified by a large sign beside the highway, about a mile above the
village of Spruce Creek.

... however, i thought there was a recent court decision declaring pa.'s streams public?

Jeff, you're probably referring the the case of some private water on
the Little Juniata River, right at the confluence of Spruce Creek.

That case hasn't been settled yet. As I understand it, the fate of
that water depends on whether the Little J is determined to be
"navigable." So the outcome would not affect Spruce Creek, which is
obviously not navigable.

If anyone cares, I'll try to remember to post any results I hear
about.

less than 4 months til the next penns gathering, and it can't arrive
soon enough for me. in an optimistic grasp, i hold zimbo's emergence as
the feel of positive prophecy for the up-coming fishing year.

watched an espn show this morning. dave mullen (?) was guiding some tv
fisherman on spruce creek and penns. spruce creek was tiny in some of
the places shown...but huge fish. the john was catching big fish right
at his feet using a nymph in very shallow, clear water. how far away
from penns is spruce creek, and is it worth a trip? on penns, it looked
like they were fishing the area around ingleby...dry fly, and an
enormous brown caught.

boyz...this is the year the sun is gonna shine and we're going to send a
swede (and a carolina rube) home with fishy tales to tell.

Enormous brown sounds intriguing. I just ordered a a better map of the area,
can't wait to get my hands on it.

Yup, sounds like first episode of "Fly Fishing Masters" where they were taking
4 lb+ fish out of Spruce Creek, and the creek looked more like a brook. Highly
doubt that this was public water.

the land up to the water but not under the water.....Pa. is different or so i
was told.....It was Flyfishing Masters Show they carry all those big fish from
area to area to catch them over and over and over and over you get the
drift........

fish right at his feet in clear water... however, i thought there was a

to maintain (or in many cases, have recognized) the public's right to
access Oregon rivers, so I'd be most interested in the Little J outcome.

Isn't there a good chunk in the private section that is owned by a fishing club ?

Yes, the Spruce Creek Rod and Gun Club owns a mile or so. I had the
good fortune to fish the Club's water last summer with Charlie Meck, a
member. Lots of big fish!

I'd love to be a member, but it costs a fortune and, I've heard, you
also have to be the son, grandson, and great-grandson of a member.
