BPs Enviromental action plan.

BPs oil spill response plan was very thoughfull and complete.

http://www.csmonitor.com/From-the-ne...ms_ss=facebook

In case the link doesn't work this is from the Christian Science
Monitor of June 9 th.

The plan covers walruses, sea otters, seals and other creatures that I
never suspected lived around that part of the world.
What really ticks me off is how the locals hid them from the rest of
us. Why do the rest of us have to go to Alaska or the Northwest
Territory to fish for Char when there is probalbe a run up the Sabine
river?
And Food! I like seafood gumbo. It's one of the highpoints of a trip
to the Big Easy.
I'll probably never get to a Cajun walrus bar-b-que now. For years
them coonasses have been keeping them secret from the rest of us.
It's probably to late now, BPs killed all the walruses.

Amusing. A couple of (possible) points - I take no stance as to their accuracy,
only that they have been brought up - one, several of the oil companies
(Chevron, BP, C/P, etc.) have all used more-or-less "boilerplate" language in
these plans, and they cover the spectrum of wildlife in all areas of drilling
(IOW, it is essentially a list of all possible wildlife in all drilling areas,
the potential effects, and the response to it), such that if this had occurred
in Alaska, the story would be pointing out the alleged absurdity of mentioning
pelicans. If that is true, I would offer that such a "boilerplate" list isn't
particularly worrisome ___IF THE PROPOSED RESPONSE WAS ACCURATE/PLAUSIBLE___. It
seems clear that the claimed response capability was a pipe dream.

The second point is that it appears this basic plan submitted by BP is "the
plan" and has been for years, with some basic editing. This particular copy was
submitted and approved in 2009, when DOI was under Salazar, Obama's hand-picked
guy, who was supposed to clean up MMS, but apparently did what his line of
predecessors did - just went with, pardon the pun, the flow. The pelicans are
coming home to roost, as it were, and just as unfairly as Bush got saddled with
Katrina, Obama is being saddled with the spill (albeit Obama seems bound and
determined to "claim" it). And if the Fed's response to the spill winds up
being anywhere near the (economic) taxpayer ripoff that Katrina has turned into,
he will, ultimately, be actually responsible for part of it.

I'd suggest that anyone who truly supports Obama to urge, at every opportunity,
that a measured, rational response to this is in the best interest of everyone
except the media and those with "partisan" agendas/causes. It is certainly in
the best interest of the areas affected and the US taxpayers, as well as those
who may suffer if _excessive_ federal funds are diverted and wasted. From
personally-witnessed past experience, this is headed in a really bad direction.
