Doubtless some hot dish being kept on the side by a local politician. Smells like a cover up to me. Clearly, she was trying to destroy a weapon of mast reduction.....which Montana probably ain't supposed to have any of. If one scrolls down the page just past the end of the story, there is a headline proclaiming that the state of washington was attacked by just such a weapon. Uneasy rumblings in guts of the west. g. watch your nuts, dave. |

Kevin V. opined that the bear ran away when he saw the zuchini 'cause his neighbors had been pestering him to take some from their gardens for weeks. Frank Reid |

Frank Reid Some friends and I once grew a batch that went upwards of 24 inches in length and 7 in diameter at the fat end. Never weighed one, but I suspect that some got up to five pounds or more. We gave them to anyone who stopped by for a visit. After a while they stopped visiting. Zucchini (at least in this part of the world) are supposed to be about the size and shape of the customary native brook trout. These were more like rutting salmon. g. reminds a boy of all those critters of various orders, families and genera with the specific name of "longipennis," which.....as i'm sure we all remember.....means "prodigious appendage." |

That's a great tactic! I can see the infomercials now. Frank Reid |

I take it the Rangers were looking for a bear with a courgette(as we call
them) jammed firmly where the sun don't shine :-) Courgette. Isn't that a young cougar? Then again, they're not cougars if they're young. Mayhaps its what cougars use? Frank Reid (hey, we're getting into triple entendres tonight) |

Frank Reid (hey, we're getting into triple entendres tonight) Used to be a joke in Maine: Some tourist noticed that locals left their cars and houses unlocked all the time. He asked "Do you always leave your cars unlocked around here?" The local answered "Yep, 'xcept in September." "Oh, why's that? Tourists and the like who come up for the fall colors and steal stuff?" "Nope. If you leave it unlocked in September, when you come out of the store, some neighbor's filled it with zucchini." --riverman (never said it was funny) |

I thought they used flashlights...and sammiches... Frank Reid (hey, we're getting into triple entendres tonight) Isn't a Courgette a sports car? "Little Red Courgette" was a song by Prince, iirc. Was it Prince? I thought it was Aubergine Dream...no, wait - that's Vangelis...stuffing them...eh, maybe it's just a patch of purpleness in all this prose... HTH, R --riverman |
