Tongariro and Turangi Flooding

Someone sent me this url is anyone wants to see the state of the Tongariro
River as of last night.
Hydro pool bridge is closed due to extensive damage, 100+ people have been
evacuated from their homes.

This is pretty minor in comparison to what has been happening in the past 2
weeks.
Approx 1 billion in flood damage in the past 2 weeks.

Tongariro and Turangi Flooding

The TT has broken its banks as well and people have been evacuated.

The Hinemaia is running 2 metres over the top of the damn.

The Tongariro usually flows at 16 m3/sec, she is running at 1005m3/sec.

It is getting nasty all round, and looks like the lower North Island is in
for another pasting later this afternoon.

Tony,
long time no see.
Was at a surfcasting competition today the winning fish was the only one
caught........a 30gm herring. Poor bugger had to stand up and take the prize
of beer fridge and $1000. I guess the prize far outweighed the embarrassment
