Kit for sea bass
I'm hoping to take a break for a week or so to Morocco early in the New Year and am thinking about fly fishing for sea bass. I'd appreciate some advice on gear.
I started fly fishing last year and have taken to it well enough. I've got a 9ft 6" #7, Wt forward dry line. I'm guessing I probably need to get some new gear, or can I manage with this... or will the salt water trash the rod eyes? Thanks for any advice. Mark |

US writing about sal****er FF: 1. recommends buying special lines for salt water (available for either warm or cool waters.) They say freshwater lines behave differently in the salt, especially cold. 2. suggest all tackle must be carefully washed free of salt immediately after use, to prevent rust damage. Some reels and rod-guides are advertized as so prepared as to resist sal****er rust. 3: suitable non-chafing clothing is necessary to cover all exposed skin. Some experienced sal****er anglers even wear gloves. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |
