Thought I'd be working all weekend but got so much accomplished yesterday
that I was able to sleep in late today. Breakfast was followed by a drive
up the the San Gabriel canyon. It was 83 degrees and sunny below the snow
capped mountains which crown the northeast corner of Los Angeles county.

Back in the Raygun era I wasn't a popular consultant choice in D.C., but I
discovered that So. California was most amenable to paying for my skillset
and so was in LA about 3/4th time.

I found the San Gabriel is a wonderful wild relief once you get past the
realm of the Motofreaks. And LA has incredible art resources and some of the
strangest niche cultures and bizarre institutions of any place I've ever got
to know. Everybit as interesting as S.F. in its own ways. A world unto
itself.

Nice to hear, Mu. The SoCal rivers can get very stressed. I've heard there's a
good snow pack on the San Gabriel this year, so that bodes well.

I never cared much for the area. Have they started sandblasting the gang
graffiti off the boulders?

Most people who've lived here for many years don't seem to notice what you
did.

Yeah, that part is rather nasty but with a bicycle you can quickly get to
the 'better' parts. It ain't the sierras but that's not the point.
