I would echo Tom's response, and add that if you get a warm day over the
next weeks you could start see an influx of early season midges and Little
Black Stoneflies.

Black caddis usually follow them a week or two later. That's just an
average observation. Depending on the location you may see more, or less,
species then these.

I wouldn't fly-fish anywhere right now without midges and LBS'. Of course
you won't find me out there unless it warms up above 50 degrees, the fish
just aren't moving much right now.

Last week I had occasion to drive up to NY passing thru Harrisburg on
Rt 15. Whilst at a stoplight alongside of the Susequhanna (sp) just
north of Harrisburg, swarms of flies were all over the car. Not much
of an entomologyst but they were sz 12-14, light brown. Kinda early
for what I suspect. Bill in Va.

Light brown?? Caddis maybe?? The big rivers can hold a overwhelming
variety of bugs. The question is, did you have the rod with you?

Yup, got a new fly rod too. Sorry I missed you, but it was a last minute
