For those (0) feedback folks, I just figure this as part of their tuition. g My risk aversion factor for Ebay purchases is at about 2/3 of retail, including S & H. Above that ceiling, I'd rather buy from an established retailer & not take the chance. I check ebay quite often for stuff I can't live without g and can't believe some of the prices at which stuff is purchased. After you consider the shipping costs, that $21 dollar reel is now near $27, and, if cheap is what you're after, you can get much cheaper in town. A lot of sellers tie a bunch of flies and then auction them - sometimes for $2 or more each. It's not that it's such a bad price from someone you know and trust, but not based on a fuzzy picture from someone you don't know. Besides, if you subscribe to the theory that time is money, the flies I tie are worth at least $10 a piece. :) I bid quite a bit on certain things and win very few. I'm with you - once it crosses my risk aversion line, forget it. -- TL, Tim http://css.sbcma.com/timj |
