Does anyone have any experience with the Lamson Radius Reel?
I own a couple Lamson DCA's and several Ross's but I need one for a new 7wt. and the Radius is a pretty good deal right now. Any comments on the Radius would be great. Thanks |

Thanks If you have a velocity in one hand, and a radius in the other, you'll see that big difference. I'd pay a bit more, and get a velocity instead. No doubt about that. (actually i would pay alot more, and get the ULA force 3FX for a 7 weight, hehe) Tight lines! Thomas - DK |

When i fish I look at the actual reel less than 1% of the time, so i dont care bout' the look of the little *******. As long as it performs, im a happy flyfisher :o) /Thomas |

Some people will pay good money for high quality equipment. Some people will pay as little as possible, but just enough to get by. Of course not all fishermen/women have the same income. I prefer to buy gear that is a pleasure to fish with. When you get all excited about just the thought of waving your flyrod around, and totally psycked every time you spin your flyreel, then u know you got gear you'll keep for life. And when you pay good $$ for high quality gear, it'll probably last for life. At least most of my gear has a lifetime warranty, and i can se that the gear i use was made to last a lifetime. Im not against cheap gear. Not at all. But the enjoyment of fishing - for me at least - is so much greater when i have good gear in my hands. It's like a good woman. There are lots of "ok" women around, but once in a while you find that special someone, that you know is just right for you, and that you'd like to keep for a lifetime. :o) /Thomas |

To answer your question, the Radius I own has been an enjoyable piece of
equipment. It is not a large arbor reel, but its price makes it a valid option for many people. If you can get a good price on one and don't require a large arbor, get it. -- Stev Lenon 91B20 '68-'69 Drowning flies to Dark Star http://web.tampabay.rr.com/stevglo/i...age92kword.htm |

the radius may not be a large arbor reel, but i think it qualifies as
somewhere inbetwixt a large and standard/traditional arbor. i like considering looks of equipment, and as such, i had thought the older radius was iffy, with asymetrical-looking sides. but it took no time at all to grow on me. the price was hard to beat as well, considering it has that cool conical drag. now i hear all the time anything more than a click/pawl drag for small-medium sized stream trout, which i fancy, is overkill, but at that price, consider it a free feature thrown in. some may not like the click sound, which is kind of soft and muffled, but like the backside of the reel, it has grown on me and i love using the reel. eric fresno, ca.
