Greetings to all from the UK.

I am familiar with some US rods (Orvis and Sage figure in my armoury), but
I am wondering about Redington. I would be very grateful for any
observations you would care to make about these rods: quality, action
etc..

Sage has bought Reddington some time ago, so Reddington is "gone". The guys
who started Reddington, made a new brand called Albright.

Redington is not gone. They were indeed purchased by Sage, but
the name and many of the products remain intact. You are also
correct about Murphy and company starting Albright.

Redington produces pretty good entry level rods for the lower
to mid priced market. I've owned a few and still have a DFR,
which is one of my favorite rods.

the Redington Wayfarer rods in 5 and 7 pieces are excellent rods at a
reasonable price. I have access to a lot of 8 wt rods, and use my 5 pc
Redington most of the time. these and most of the other low entry rods ae
still available through the new Redington(read Sage)
The NTI rods that they produced were great casting rods but had a tendency
to break. I could cast 10 to 15 feet further with them than other first
class rods. They were very high modulus road and much lighter than other
rods so there was less fatigue. The new Redington has discontinued these
$600 rods but still honors the warranty. The whole question is what will
they do when they run out of spare parts to repair them.. There is
speculation that they are designing new high end rods and will trade people
for their old broken NTI's.

I worked for a fly shop in Montana. We sold them and returned many.

I don't care for them. I own Sages (VPS, VPSL, and DS2) and two Winston (WT
and LT) rods. Big difference between the Sage and Wintsons but love all
four.

IMO If you have nice stuff, keep buying nice stuff.
