Not only are you a Spammer, the prices are not that great,

I have an old Garmin GPS 128 installed on my flybridge, with a Standard
Horizon
Data Repeater connected down in the cockpit so I can read distance to waypoint
while fishing (drifting). It seems the Garmin's NMEA data interface only reads
out
in increments of .1 mile instead of the .01 mile resolution displayed on the
GPS
screen. A check with a laptop computer confirms that I can't get DTW data any
better that .1 mile from the NMEA 0183 output.

Now, .1 mile accuracy isn't so good when I am fishing over a sunken ship or
submerged reef. Does anyone know how to get better resolution from the
Garmin, or are they just mean-spirited software engineers? Do any of the new
GPS sets give better resolution in their NMEA data? Manual specifications
are a bit terse on this subject!

Regards,
Cliff

Have you try upgrading the software that Garmin has available on their site
for that model.

Thanks for your comment.

I downloaded the updates for my 128, and there is no change related to
output data. I also downloaded the manual and read it again.

I can't find anything related to NMEA data format. I will keep trying
changes in the 128 setup and see if that has any effect. Must be
in there somewhere...

Regards,
Cliff

Have you tried emailing Garmin's support? I've found them to be very
helpful . . .

Just got my answer from Garmin (quote):

"The NMEA data is not something that can be adjusted or changed. It is a set
resolution through gps and NMEA data. "

Thanks for the suggestion,
Cliff
