Fallen Leaf Lake and Kids

My son wants to fish at Fallen Leaf Lake while we're camping there.
Neither of us has any experience with or knowledge of fishing.

I have a couple of 6 or 6.5 foot poles, some power bait and some eggs,
and a few hooks, and some weights and a bobber or two. We'll probably
be fishing from shore unless a boat is dirt cheap.

Fallen Leaf Lake has Mackinaws as it's primary self-sustaining game
fish, but also has cutthroats, and rainbows, and browns.

Any honest friendly advice for us rookies?

Thanks

I am in the same boat as you, pardon the pun. I am just getting back to
fishing.

One often overlooked resourse is the public library. You might want to
give that a try. There will surely be some book there to meet you specific
situation, geographic requirements.

Post this on www.fishsniffer.com and www.anglernet.net Both of these are
Norcal sites and some of the people fish the Tahoe area. I have not fished
Fallen Leaf, but have boated the lake. I think I have seen people fishing
from the campground area. Or you could buy my 14' Valco for $2000 and take
your son boating. There are a couple of decent sporting goods shops in
South Shore.
