need freshwater fishing help
Hi, I went out fishing today at about 4:30 pm. I fished a small lake
in bradenton Florida. The weather was hot bright and blue. I could hear fish on the surface, but I could not get them to bite. I also used a hummingbird smart cast fish finder and I could see fish every where. I tried a small jig with a spinner, spinner baits, buzz baits, crank baits, and I even had the fly rod rigged up with a popper and a small dry fly combo. The full moon is coming up. What am I doing wrong when and where should I fish. Should I try a plastic worm? Thanks Mike |

What are you trying to catch? If bass, my experience is that they
just don't bite too well at that time of day. My best fishing for bass is from 5:30am to 9:30am, and then from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. I generally use a rubber worms Carolina-rigged, around the edges in thick grass. If panfish, I've always had my best luck with live earthworms ("georgy wigglers"). They'll bite all day and aren't too picky. the trick is finding the right depth to fish at. Sometimes they'll be hitting it on the bottom. Sometimes you just want it about a foot below the water. That's a trial and error thing. If you're wanting to stick to artificial then they will hit small spinners. I've even caught them on rooster-tails. I'm guessing you're not going for catfish (in which case you want to use cutbait on a medium-large rod). Mike (mike) wrote in message . com... Hi, I went out fishing today at about 4:30 pm.
