Quite probably yes.


A leather finger stool (cover) from a good chemist works almost as
well.

Yep, I use one (bionic finger I think it's called).
Brilliant! You've got to use a decent shock leader, though. I find that I'm
far more confident and can exert much more acceleration into the cast.
