Hurst Shingle Bank - Where dey all gone?

19:30 Sunday night to 02:00 on Monday - One spider crab and a baby at
that! (£10 on bait - Rag and frozen slipper limpets.)

I know that one angler had a small pollack but he was at the castle.
All the others I spoke had the same luck as me.

Was it due to moon shining so brightly? (An angler a few hundred yards
to the west of me didn't us a tilley, torch or anything! He lit a fire
at one point but that was probably to keep warm. Better eyes than
mine.)

Any advice gratefully received - keep up the good work.

In recent years I've only fished the bank in summer, but I seem to remember
that in the colder months it was better to use fish baits (mackerel, squid,
etc) and go for something bigger (dogfish, even codling). Although I'd have
hoped there might be a few bass about by now.

Personally, I'll wait another month or so and then venture up there for the
bream, bass, sole, etc that are more partial to worm, and also start
spinning for mackerel and bass on light tackle.

Better luck next time! Keep posting reports.
