You need to present some bait, on a hook, to a fish. What has changed is the "amount" of money some people are prepared to spend on the gear to achieve this, and the amount of gear they feel they need. I am serious, take a good look around a well stocked tackle shop. |

Basically after a break of some 15 yrs from Angling I am back and boy have got alot to catch up on. I know the feeling, I started again last year after a long break. Essentials you need. 16 metre pole @ £2,000 Three matched carp rod/reel combos @ £500 each = £1,500 Rod pods, pole rollers, bivvy, expensive (and often useless) brand-name bait, elastics, spods, pole floats, unhooking mat. Say another £500 Add another £1,000 for other essentials you'll discover you need (camp bed, sleeping bag, stove, butler, scullery maid). So £5,000 should see you kitted out. Of course, you could do it like me. Hardy Matchmaker rod c1972 @ £16 when new and still as good as new. Feeder rod @ £35 2 x reel @ £35 each = £70 Another £200 (spread over time) for umbrella, protective clothing and bits & pieces like hooks, floats and line etc. Total £315. Seriously, welcome back to a great art (it's not a sport). I catch enough fish to keep myself happy, I hope you do too (however much you spend and whatever 'style' of fishing you adopt). If you are as baffled as I was last year, you'll be wondering what a spod is. Have fun finding out. |

Basically after a break of some 15 yrs from Angling I am back and boy have got alot to catch up on. I know the feeling, I started again last year after a long break. Essentials you need. As far as your pricing goes I would say 16 metre pole @ £2,000 rubbish Three matched carp rod/reel combos @ £500 each = £1,500 rubbish Rod pods, pole rollers, bivvy, expensive (and often useless) brand-name bait, elastics, spods, pole floats, unhooking mat. Say another £500 maybe if you bought them all but i don't no many (infact can't think of any) that do/have. Add another £1,000 for other essentials you'll discover you need (camp bed, sleeping bag, stove, butler, scullery maid). once again the pricing is absolute rubbish So, what was the point of all that then, are you a crack pot or what? |

I havent been fishing for a while now and wont get to go as often as i used
to so what im doing is keeping up with the angling world so i dont fall behind. I get anglers mail each week to keep up with the news and improve your coarse fishing each month. This way i know whats going on in the angling world even when i have long spells out. I suggest if you are just starting back you buy some magazines to see whats happening in the angling world.
