Yes, visit EA website and they make it quite clear.
Rod Fishing Licences As an angler it is most important for you to know that anyone aged 12 years or over who fishes for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in England and Wales must have an Environment Agency Rod Fishing Licence. A rod licence is a statutory requirement (in other words it is required by law) and entitles the licensee to use a rod and line to fish. Rod licences are issued by the Environment Agency. They differ from permits (often referred to as tickets or day tickets) which give permission to fish a particular water or waters and are issued by fishery owners, angling clubs and so on. Rod licences can be purchased from any Post Office in England and Wales, on our telephone sales line: 0870 1662662 (for Full and Junior licences only). http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk -- I smile and go off waving (Amiably) - for that's my way Baal http://www.helden.co.uk "Gadgetfreaky2k" wrote in message ... i own a house with a garden that ends on the canal. my question is do i need a licence to fish from my own back garden from the canal. Probably can't.
Just remember don't fish with a carbon rod in a thunderstorm or when you hear a helicopter ;-) -- I smile and go off waving (Amiably) - for that's my way Baal http://www.helden.co.uk "Gadgetfreaky2k" wrote in message ... how can they enforce it if they have to enter private property? Gadget |

For the sake of a poxy 23 quid, you'd be as well getting the licence then you can fish wherever you like without looking over your shoulder all the time. |
licence question
Do you have fishing rights?
Check your deeds of the house It may say you cant fish from it |
