River Trent Tactics Help!

Hello all, I am pretty much a canal angler, I very rarely go on the River,
and as I live in Nottingham the Trent is 5 mins walk away. I live in Beeston
so I have the weir near me if anyone knows of that. When I do fish the River
I always float fish and catch Roach, Perch, Skimmers etc This season I want
to get some of them big chub and barbel in the net, I have the tackle but I
need some help on the tactics, bait etc. Can anyone with any Trent
experience or general river big fish experience help me! Thanks very much :)

River Trent Tactics Help!

I'm no expert but i fish the same place although not the weir itself a
swim a bit further down......you need heavy leads and i always lose a
lot of gear in snags.....meat seems to work well.....last time i went
with a mate i had a few chub and a barbel.....mate more than quadrupled
my catch....hope this helps.
