Tim Apple http://www.the-apples.com There are several ROFFians that either live full- or part-time in Texas, myself included, but as you know, two people can be a 10-plus hour drive apart and still be in Texas. Not a flame, but what does the first part of your first sentence mean? If you are in Dallas, Big Dale is in the DFW area, as am I part-time. There are actually some pretty good resources in the DFW area (including a huge Bass Pro Shops, and several decent "shops"), and a number of lakes, rivers, branches, etc. I prefer the west metroplex areas (to Possum Kingdom), but that's probably due more to distance as opposed to any better fishing. There's "it'll do" fishing on the Guadalupe (one of, if not THE largest TU chapters in the country is Austin-based, if you are into TU). AFAIK, there is no real "natural" trout fishing (the Guadalupe is stocked) in Texas, but there is PLENTY of fishing opportunities for varieties of bass, panfish, shad, etc. If you a) like catfishing, and b) hunting, try to get along the San Saba, down south of Brady.
