Henry Fork Hopper

I was tying up some Henry Fork Hoppers for latter in the season and it
occurred to me that the bundled up elk hair that forms the slightly extended
body could be replaced by white foam creating the same visual result and
probably have the same floating characteristics. The elk underwing can
easily be tied in separately and it's a faster easier job. Is this still a
Henry Forks Hopper and shouldn't the foam substitute body give the same
results?

If you tie this up, I would be interested in seeing a pic of it.....

Tim the photo just became redundant..

I've been using the model in Randall Kaufmann's "Tying Dry Flies" so I use
light elk rather than deer and Mottled brown hen saddle feathers for the
over wing.

rw,,,Thank you for offering that comprehensive answer....

I was just giving you a heads-up in case you were thinking of naming the
fly something like the Owen's Hopper. :-)
