Please help with my dock.

I was asked to build a dock on lake front property. Does the dock have
to float or can I build it like I would a deck? Please help. The dock
would run 20 out into the water and would be about 2 feet deep at it's
deepest point.

Some fishermen like floating docks so they can cast up under them.

Some like wooden docks with plenty of horizontal boards for the fish to hold
up against.

Build a solid/non-floating steel dock with no horizontal beams and the fish
and fishermen will probably stay away.

And why are you asking this on a fly tying forum?

Thanks for the tip.

With all the fisherman around here I figured someone might have built
one on his lake front property.

Please help with my dock.

I built my frame out of 2x6 pressure treated wood with 5/4 decking and used
barrells for a float. on one end and the other end was hinged to compensate
for water level changes
I would not use the barrells again but would use the square floats available
now the barells suck unless you can make a large square platform. I will
post partial picture on alt bin pictures hope this helps.
