My first catches with senkos..

I've tried senkos quite a few times and usually I'll get a hit here and
there...but never could get the hook set. Tonight, I head out to a local
lake and get fishing the shore until I started getting hits, sets, and great
pics..here's the biggest one of the night!

http://users.snip.net/~ccericola/ima...s001Pic001.jpg

In the end..I hit four, landed three. All at least a pound, and the one
pictures showed at just above two on my scale.

Now - I have to say I'm somewhat amazed at the senkos. When I first started
with them I had no luck. This night, I would toss them and get hits almost
immediately. The fish pictures took me a few attempts. The first four or
five I just couldn't get the hook to set(or maybe he was spitting it out).
Each time, I tossed it in he took it until it was finally set.

Ah..what a night.

Nice fish Chris. I was up at my cottage this weekend, boated 22 bass, 18
of them came on Senko style worms, but off brands.

Chris,

How are you rigging them? Also if you want to post some of those fish
pictures for good, go check out www.outdoorfrontiers.com and our very own
Steve Huber will be more than happy to post them up there for you

Better for setting the hook?

I think my issue with setting the hook is just getting used to the feel of
them. With spinners and crankbaits, I typically find by the time I feel the
fish fighting, they're pretty much hooked(especially in the case of lures
with treble hooks). I reacted the same way I would with the with mostly
trying to reel it right in. Once I realized that's what I was doing wrong,
I had no issue landing them.

I've liked the texas weightless so I can pretty much cast into anything
without snagging. The water in this lakes is full of snaggable junk. In
fact, I can't even use a spinner or crank half the time because of the fear
of getting snagged.

I rarely miss a fish on a wacky rig. I also think you will find the fish hit
a wacky rig more than they would a texas rig
