Upper Wisconsin Float Trip Flies

Have fished the Wisconsin a couple times this week. The bass are best
described as being "tentative". You can catch them but they aren't
smashing the flies like they were a few weeks ago. I've had my best
luck dead drifting brown bead head wooly buggers through deeper
runs.(Although any other earth tone crappie jig would work, I'd
wager.) I've also caught some fish on actively retrieved streamers
(Clousers etc). Nothing on top unfortunately. One fly that people may
want to have in their arsenals is a #10-#12 White Wulff. The Ephoron
hatch is overdo on the River and even though this week promises to be
cool (temps in 60s) they will have to come off sometime. The nice
thing is that I've found that in cooler Summers they tend to emerge
earlier in the day, say about 6pm as opposed to their hatching nearer
to dark in warmer years.

Muskies *are* biting though. Lost one last time out.

I've got 4 evenings left to tie up whatever I'll need for our little
venture. Or, to put it another way, you'd best keep a close eye on your fly
boxes. :)

What's the record on 6x tippet?

Jay informs me that as he will be arriving home from Montreal late on Friday
night, he will probably not be joining us.......sucks to be him, I guess.
Becky informs me that she is going to try to convince her brother to join
us.......I got a shiny new nickel says she fails.

Unless you hear otherwise, I guess we'll just plan to meet at MacDonald's in
Eagle River between 8 and 9 on Saturday morning. Joel, you copy?

Mc Donalds isn't really a bad choice. Its just a couple miles down the
road from there to the put in.

It isn't a good choice either. However, it's about two blocks from a nice
little cafe (whose name I can't remember) that will remind you of Champ's.
I figure whoever gets there first can live on bad coffee till we all
converge and move over to the good stuff. :)

I get a "cannot find server" message. Anyway, I know where it is, and
Joel........well, you can't lose him no matter how hard you try. See you
Saturday morning.

Since I've lived my life perpetually 5 minutes late I'll let you have
the pleasure of McD's coffee. The other place sounds much better. Maybe
they have pasties!
