Turbot in the Mersey!!

You would never believe it years ago, but it shows how the mersey is so
clean, with so many different species in it nowadays

To see the pictures and report go here, BUT, please be ready for the
Liverpool humour ;)

So what else has anyone caught in the Mersey recently? And how far up the
Mersey have fish been caught? Many years ago in the mid eighties I remember
someone catching a large fish (18") but unsure what it was. That was caught
underneath the Runcorn-Widnes bridge, but was so badly deseased it was killed
instead of being thrown back.Glad to say that the water around there has
indeed improved, although it is still far from clean.

Absolutely every species you can think of is coming out of the Mersey! We
often go for mullet 3-6lb quite common, though I have to say, I have not had
one yet!picture here... http://www.castandcatch.com/species/billmullet2.jpg
Plenty of Bass too!plaice dabs and flounder can be caught at Perch Rock,
( New Brighton) weaver also! with good sized cod & whiting in the colder
months http://www.castandcatch.com/images/f...cs/raycodd.jpg anyone who
wants to come to Merseyside and fish, I'd be more than willing help in any
way, also we have fish'n'eats which is just a load of anglers meeting up at
a venue and a couple of us will lay on pans of Stew or a BBQ quite an event
in itself, this has proved very popular over the last year and we now fish
with lads from all over the North West, Wales and a great bunch of lads from
Leicester! http://hometown.aol.co.uk/FishingSAS/OgA.jpg

I'm fishing at Vale Park ( Near New Brighton) on Sunday evening, which is
another excellent venue and parking is within yards of the fishing

see how we do at www.castandcatch.com

Mullet, Bass, Eels, dabs, Flounder, Sole ( Oglet shore) Thornbacks, Dogfish,
smoothhound and Mackeral ( New Brighton) just a few of the species caught
this summer, not may I add, all by me

The river has cleaned up a hell of a lot over the last 10 years and I'm sure
we will get a lot more species over the coming years

As It's National Fishing Week we're holding one of our Fish'n'Eats on the
29th August ( weather permitting) at Hall Road Crosby, not the most prolific
venue, but clean, safe with toilets with hot water and great access for
disabled and you can fish from your car!
this link is to an information page about Hall road
http://www.castandcatch.com/venues/hallroad.htm

If we catch anything more than a few inches long I'll let yer all know :)
