Epoxy and Hard Head coloring

Anybody have a source for epoxy-specific colorants?

Using lacquer results in lower viscosity and for patterns using big blobs of
the stuff, like MOE crabs or bonefish bitters, it's a pain I would like to
avoid.

I really like Hard Head better, *BUT* tinting it with acrylic, I wound up
way too thin again. TIA L.C.

Um...you aren't, by any chance, in possession of cousins named Marcel
and Newgene, are you?

Pocket Plastics makes a colorant for expoxy and polyester that is the
consistency of toothpaste, might be what you're looking for, but color
selection is limited to the primary colors I think, you have to mix the
rest.

Have you thought of looking to _epoxy_/polymer tile grout colorant?
IIRC, you are in the DFW area, and there are several sources around the
Metroplex. Mapei is one maker of the grout system, and their products
are called "Kerapoxy," and IIRC, "Ultra-color," but be warned that 'net
research on it is liable to be a bit frustrating, as the product itself
isn't _quite_ a widely-available DIY thing yet. IIRC, Lowe's carries
_some_ epoxy grout materials, and that might be a place to start, but
you might get lucky with tile stores giving you a sample to try.

It's used to color epoxy and gel coat in boat repairs, among other things.
I'll see if I can find something.

Couldn't find it either, the tube's writing is coming off so I can't read
the address. Got it at a place in Kelso, WA called Honest John's.
Did see a site that might have some info, MrFiberglass.com, he has both
opague and transparent colorants. Also saw lots of sites with West Systems
Evercoat colorants but they are a gel so I don't know if they will thin your
compound.
Saw where someone else was going to use the stuff to color epoxy on a wood
insert repair I believe, one of the replies mentioned the product by name.
Went to rodbuilding.org and put in "coloring epoxy" in the search engine,
you could e-mail him to see where he got it.
