Brown Trout fishing in scotland

I have a friend who's a beginner and I'm looking for a nice loch where
he's got a good chance of catching something. The closer to Inverness
the better as I don't have a car and have to rely on...

I also thought if I tensioned the line enough by pulling it, I wouldn't
need floats. I can improvise floats out of pipe insulation if
neccesary however.
