Default Can you believe everything you hear at the ramp?

I tend to disregard these stories for the most part. I have heard the
"shocking crew shocked up a giant SM/LM/pike/brown trout that was way over
the state record" story about so many different lakes over the years it's
ridiculous.

But then again, I'm pretty sure it WAS true one time. We had a DEP guy in
our club, and he had the shocking crew guys come to a meeting, and they had
a polaroid of one of them holding a bass that they said weighed over 14
pounds, and looked very bit of it. It was taken at night (when all the
electrosampling is done in CT) so you couldn't see much of the background,
and they wouldn't tell us what lake it was from.

And I don't know of a lake with more than 50 feet of water in it and a dam
that doesn't also have a story about divers working on/checking the dam
seeing 5 foot (6, 10 whatever) catfish at the base of the dam. I think that
underwater dam repair divers are sworn to promote that story as part of
their job description.
