In may & june I fish Long's Park Lake near Lancaster Pa. (Retirees only)
I catch 2 or 3 bass over 3 lbs per year, but the real draw is the large
Golden Carp (Koi) that in may & june cruise the surface in huge schools
& are visible as a large orange shadow just beneath the surface. from
the last couple of weeks of april until the heat drives them deep in
late june I catch 80 to 100 in 3 hours time (along with several bass &
some cats.) I have arthritis & use an electric scooter to follow the
schools around the lake. These are the scaredest fish around, they flee
even from a small bluegill contesting my bait. (They're top water fish
then & I use a bit of white or yellow plastic worm suspended a footr or
so under a small bobber.) You've got to lead the school with your cast
or they'll disperse. They attack (& often jump or make bonefishlike runs
after being hooked). They're great fun to catch. They don't have nearly
the strength or stamina of the common carp, but wow. what great fun.
Sometimes I have an admiring gallery that Tiger Wood would envy. Can't
wait for april Carl
