I know that in the UK there are a lot of people who can't stand Airflo
yet their spey lines are highly rated on this side of the pond.
Must have been an accident, or somebody else is responsible in the USA
Some of the worst gear I have ever used, seen ,or heard of. Coupled with
extremely aggressive and often quite incredible marketing.
Quite apart from airflop, I think "marketing" is a major curse for modern
anglers. Almost impossible to find the truth in the thicket of
exaggerations, lies, and similar nonsense. Of course it is no better in
other areas, but it somehow seems worse in the angling area.

Oh ya, about marketing -- while I like Sage single handers, I think
their two-handers are grossly over-rated. One of the worst is the
9140-4 which is just a gutless, wobbly, noodle. Just read recently
where some PNW guide rates the 9140-4 as the best "spey" rod ever. I
love handing one of my "cheap" Daiwa Lochmors to a Sage snob for a
couple of casts then watch their "deer-in-the-headlights" look.
Flabergasted is about the right description for them. The Scots have
been building salmon rods longer than any PNW angler has been alive --
I think they know a thing or two about making them.
