If the possibility arose for one to, hypothetically, use some frequent
flyer
miles and fly to PDX or Eugene in, say, mid-May, would one find that

the
fishing around Bend at that time of year to be worth making such a

trip?

If you fly into Eugene, the Mckenzie from right in town up to Cougar Dam
(20-30 mi.of river) can be very good in mid-May.
If you fly into Bend (actually Redmond Airport) there's a good chance that
you might catch the tail end of the Salmon Fly hatch on the Deschutes
betweem Maupin and Trout Creek. It can get fairly crowded then, but, if you
hit it right it can be truly memorable fishing.

Thanks for the pointers, Bob!
