Hi Bob:

Is that what you think the OP is referring to - Sun Fish (Centarchidae)
that he is calling
American Sun Bass ?
Here on the East Coast that's what we call them, "Sun Fish." With the
Bluegill Sun Fish
being the largest and then there are the; Large Mouth, Small Mouth, Rock
Bass, White and
Black Crappie, etc.

I had not heard of that name American Sun Bass before and it was not
listed in the McClane's
New Standard Fishing Encyclopedia.
