I believe water temperature is NOT the sole trigger for spawn, it has more
to do with the sun increasing and time of year.

They also spawn during the summer, and quite a bit in september on some
lakes.

Go someplace like Bass Pro where they have big aquariams, and the fish will
be spawning the same time as the outdoor fish in the area.
