It was cool, I had a good time. I don't want to sound cocky (who? Me?),
but I was hoping that the pros would speak on a tad higher level, that
meaning a bit more technical than they did. Gerald Swindle was good, though
he could have skipped the comedy routine that took up about 25% of his
lecture time. I wasn't there to laugh, I was there to learn. Tony Bean is
a knowledgeable smallmouth guy from TN, in fact his home water is Percy
Priest. Charles says he never heard of Mr Bean. Mark Menendez put on an
excellent on jerk & crankbaits, in fact I'd say that I got the most out of
his demonstration. I'm looking forward to applying his techniques for
jerkbaits in the coming weeks.

Sunday started out with Denny Brauer on pitching & flipping (at 7 am, yuk!).
I was really hoping to get more out of Denny. He uses the same reels as I
do, Daiwa TD-X baitcasters. Unfortunately, that's about all I got from
Denny that I didn't already know. Man, I'd like a little 1-on-1 with that
guy, he's one of my lifelong heroes. He did do one cool thing, after
showing how to adjust a baitcaster properly, he went to one side of the room
& told everyone to watch his thumb as he made a 30-ft pitch. He never
touched the spool at all & no backlash whatsoever. Neat! Don Iovino did
demos on finesse fishing & sonar use. He's a great guy, but I got nothing
out of his presentations. As for Ken Cook, this guy shouldn't be at BMU.
He put me to sleep not once, but twice. Reminded me of high-school level
biology class. Sorry Ken, but I'd still like to fish with you.

All-in-all it was a fun way to kill a cold weekend, but I won't be going
back. I will say that for the amateurs in the audience it was probably very
worthwhile.

How was your weekend Warren?

Don Iovino said that the Motor Guides are great & that the MK's are
terrible, something about internal interference. Just thought I'd pass
that
on...
