I'm a business school student looking at the market feasibility of
introducing a 2-10HP electric outboard engine that could be used as
primary propulsion. This product would be introduced by a major player
in the industry within the next few years. I would like to hear your
reactions and get your thoughts on whether or not this would be an
attractive product. I would also like to know how you see this product
being used once it is introduced.

I could see something like this being used on small boat, especially
where electric motors are required? How would this motor outperform a
standard transom mount trolling motor? Would the extra power be that
much more important? How is the battery life? Pushing that much
horsepower would probably drain the batteries pretty quick, possibly?

How does 100lb thrust compare in horsepower??? Just out of curiousity?

I used to have a 12' aluminum John boat that i bought a 24lb thrust
transom mount trolling motor for. It was great for very small lakes,
but the boat was very very light, and would have never carried even a
9hp motor. How does the weight compare between the gas and electric
outboard?
