I went back to google and put in Doug Swisher. It came back with
www.dougswisher.com, and on that site I found the tasmanian devil material for
sale. Funny that I couldn't find it by searching for Tasmanian Devil Material.
Still no details on what it is, but it looks like a craft fur type artificial.

A check of the book showed the Swisher monicker (Is Swisher his
real name ;-). He Floated some "Devil Leech" patterns on a dirty
day in Tassie (One of those no-one else caught a fish type of days) .
Anyway, details on the material are scant with lambs wool sub.
Good in brown, black and green.
The finished Devil Leech is a lot like a BMS - Bullen Merrie Special
(or Helter Skelter to give it the original name) though the tying
method is different. The material used for BMS/HS is often
Partridge SLF hanks - not hte same as the Devil hair but
a potentially useful sub.
