They'll eat pretty nearly anything edible. Nuts, berries, fruit,
small animals, garbage, etc.. Garbage is particularly good for them
(they think) because they don't have to chase it and it's got tasty
spices and stuff. It's also a whole bunch of edibles all in once
place. They won't much bother anything that looks big enough to cause
them any injury in the catching and eating, unless they're what are
called predatory bears. But you don't have to worry about them unless
you're in the way north. And you still don't have to worry much about
them, because they're pretty darn rare.
