With the removal of the fall line dam in Fredericksburg the
Rappahannock River is now open from the source to the sea. Migratory
fish are already moving upstream and this week the old dam site has
been opened for water traffic. Kayakers could put in at Remington and
brave Class II - V rapids down to the middle rive Class II - III
sections and then on to the City Dock in Fredericksburg. There is a
last Class IV section at the city just before the Rt. 1 bridge.
Smallmouth fishing is superb all the way.
